Despite his lack of musical training, Hans Zimmer is one of Hollywood's most important film music composers. Born in Frankfurt, he initially produced advertising jingles and video clips in the 1970s before devoting himself entirely to film music. In his career to date, the musician, who lives in Los Angeles, has already composed over 140 soundtracks for films. His first Oscar nomination was in 1989 for Rain Man, and six years later Hans Zimmer received the award for the film score to The Lion King. He went on to have an amazing and busy career filled with touring and composing.
