David Garrett, born David Christian Bongartz, held his first violin in his hands at the age of four. Just six years later, the son of a German lawyer and an American prima ballerina made his stage debut. Born in Aachen in 1980, he was the youngest artist to sign a contract with the renowned Deutsche Grammophon in 1993. While still a child, he worked with conducting legends such as Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado and Yehudi Menuhin. The latter once described David Garrett as the greatest violinist of his generation. In his extraordinary career, the star violinist has already performed with major orchestras, including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Filharmonica della Scala and the Russian National Orchestra. No one else can blur the boundaries between classical and contemporary music like David Garrett in his compositions. The New York-based star violinist has fans all over the world and has already received various gold and platinum awards as well as other prestigious prizes.
